Cold Reduced Steel Sheet
Buying Options
Hardy, versatile and forever popular, our cold reduced steel sheet is brimming with benefits. Its name comes from the way it is processed down at the steel mill; it is flattened at room temperature, which is positively freezing when compared to the normally-scorching heat used in metal production. Scroll down if you want to find out the science behind this, but all you need to know for now is that the cold-rolling technique produces a steel sheet metal that’s incredibly strong, smooth and slim. Far less ductile than its hot-rolled relative, cold-reduced mild steel sheet makes a brilliant base for enamelling and coating and is a great choice for building, construction and a whole lot more.
We also supply 3000 x 1500mm sheets, please contact us for prices.

Cold Rolled Steel Sheet

All our metals come in a huge selection of thicknesses and master sizes and can be trimmed to exactly the size you want, ensuring nothing goes to waste. What’s more, there’s never a minimum order charge, so however much (or little) cold rolled steel sheet you need, we can provide your perfect amount.
Good for: automotive components, body panels, construction parts, building, sections and tubes boilers, drums, bathtubs, radiators, domestic appliances, furniture, organic coating, powder coating, electrical goods and many more.
How it’s made: At the mill, mild steel sheet (sometimes known as carbon steel or plain steel) is passed through two giant cylinders, which flatten it into shape like an enormous pancake. It’s a similar process to the way our hot rolled steel sheet is made, but the difference is in the temperature. Although the word ‘cold’ makes the process sound rather chilly, it actually happens at room temperature. The key is in the fact that the steel is processed when it’s below its recrystallisation temperature; the cold rolled steel sheets come out smoother, thinner, less malleable and very strong.
Benefits:
- Strong
- Smooth
- Thinner

Metal facts:
The tallest building in the world utilises steel in its construction. Located in Dubai, UAE, the Burj Khalifa measures a dizzying 828 metres tall. Surprisingly, because of the tubular technology used, it actually contains half the amount of steel used in the lofty Empire State Building in New York, which measures just over half the Burj Khalifa in height, at 443 metres to its tip. Still, there are 4000 tonnes of steel in Burj Khalifa’s spire alone.
