Corten steel plate might look like it’s rusty, but thanks to clever manipulation in its processing, the outer oxidisation actually protects the steel from further corrosion – meaning your tree can last for years and years! The Corten Christmas trees arrive in the natural grey finish and they will then rust over time. Left out in the elements it takes a few days to see them start to weather then up to 6 months to rust fully and seal. During the weathering period, it is recommended to keep the trees outside as the rust can transfer and may stain garments. To keep your mind at rest – all Corten trees are deburred meaning the edges are not sharp, so they are safe for children and pets. Don’t forget: Corten trees are for life, not just for Christmas!
