Galvanised Steel Wire Mesh

What is wire mesh? Strength, squared With its neat formation of regular squares, wire mesh hardly needs an introduction. It’s incredibly useful stuff, being utilised everywhere from farms and factories, to architecture and art. The uses for this versatile material are endless, which is why we provide it in two varieties: galvanised steel mesh and copper wire mesh. You can also choose from a broad range of sizes and apertures, or take advantage of our free cutting service and have your metal wire screen trimmed down to just as much as you need, with no minimum order. The mesh material you choose depends entirely on what you plan to use it for: galvanised steel is great at resisting the elements, for example, whilst copper is a stellar conductor of electricity and heat. If you’re not sure which of our meshes best meets your requirements, get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise you. Good for: Fences, barriers, insect screens, farming, agriculture, industry, factories, gardening, transport, decor and much more. How it’s made: Metal wire (made of galvanised steel or copper) is woven together and welded into place, using precision machinery to ensure that the apertures are perfectly evenly spaced. Benefits:
  • Strong
  • Versatile
  • Available in two metal options
  • Wide choice of sizes

Zintec Steel Sheet Tough against corrosion What do you get when you cross mild steel with zinc? A durable, versatile metal that fares brilliantly in storage and transit. This is Zintec steel sheet and it’s one of the most popular metals for use in car bodies, electronics, white goods and a whole lot more. It’s just the job if you don’t quite need the weather-proof properties of galvanised steel, but you do need a steel sheet metal that won’t rust easily. Thanks to a clever electromagnetic process, the steel is covered in a thin layer of zinc, which makes it extra strong. It’s also smooth, making it an excellent base for enamelling and powder-coating. Thicknesses: 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 0.9mm, 1mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm thick sheet. Zintec steel (sometimes known as zinc steel) is easy to recognise thanks to its distinctive matt, bluish-hued finish. Unlike galvanised steel sheet, this metal doesn’t tend to be used for outdoor projects, but it is still incredibly tough when it comes to avoiding corrosion. Far less likely to oxidise (and subsequently rust) in transit and while it’s waiting to be used, Zintec is a great option when you know your metal will spend time being stored or transported. Just like our other metal products, our Zintec Steel Sheet comes in an array of sizes and thicknesses. Even better, our free cutting service means you get to tell us exactly how much you need, with no minimum order. How it’s made: Cold reduced (or cold-rolled) steel is electrolytically cleaned and pickled to make sure the surface is free of any residue or oxidisation. It is then electromagnetically plated with the thin layer of Zintec, which gives it its name and its resistance to corrosion. Good for: Car body parts, white goods, cabinets and other furniture, electronics, doors, air conditioning units, automotive parts, enamelling and powder coating. Benefits:
  • Versatile
  • Strong
  • Travels well
  • Won’t corrode in storage
What our customers say about us: “Great product and service. Really pleased with the quality of the product and delivery was very quick. Would highly recommend.” – Anna Jackson, Trustpilot, December 2015. “Excellent service and product. Just use this company for all your steel needs, even small orders.” – Sandy Reid, Trustpilot, December 2015. Random fact: Collect-a-Can is a South African-based initiative that aims to promote the recycling in South Africa. In 2007, they attempted the first world record for the most steel cans to be recycled in the space of one month. Since then, they have gone on to smash their own record twice. On their most recent attempt, during the month of October 2010, Collect-a-Can recycled an amazing 2,656,284 steel cans, weighing in at almost 83,000kg.
