Our Interlocking Shark Corten Edging is a brand-new product that will provide year-round appeal to any landscape. We wanted to design something that allows you to link the pieces together without the use of tools – and so we created the Interlocking feature. With this revolutionary product, you'll be able to stylishly section off pathways, raised beds, lawns and more in minutes.
Similar to our conventional Shark Tooth edging, this product comes with a triangular spike pattern which allows it to sink into the ground. Each strip is complete with a cut out on either side so that the pieces can easily slot together and insert into the ground – it really is that simple! No welding, no bolts, just beautiful borders, fast. This product is exclusive to Buy Metal Online and has US and Canadian design patent. Please note the Teeth are 150mm in height, then your selected height will be above ground.

The specifics
Our Interlocking Shark Tooth Corten Edging arrives unweathered and is available in packs of 10 or 25 in the following dimensions:
Length: 2000mm or 2500mm this is the main section measurement. The interlocking sections are not included in these measurements.
Height (excluding 150mm for the teeth): 100mm, 150mm, 290mm
Each pack will come with 2 end pieces. One side of each piece will have the interlocking section on to attach to your last length in the row, then the other side is a straight edge.
Good for: Lawns, flower beds, gardens, yards, allotments, courtyards, borders, rockeries, raised beds, vegetable patches, herb gardens.
How it's made:
Nickel, chromium and copper are added to steel to create Corten. Originally designed for railway carriages, this is an alloy that's crafted to last. We cut 'sharks' teeth' into our edging to make it easy for you to sink into the ground; now we've added the interlocking function so that creating longer borders is a doddle.

Don’t forget, we offer a free cutting service, so your edging arrives ready to install with no extra work required. There are several ways to install your edging depending on your preferences and tools. The strips can be welded together for a seamless connection, or you can drill holes and use joining plates that sit below the soil level. For a quicker installation, use our fold-over Corten pegs to secure the edging in place – just ensure your peg is twice the height of your edging for stability. We recommend using four pegs for the first strip of edging, then three pegs per additional length of edging laid. We also supply corner pieces to create right angles more easily.What does Weathering steel edging look like?
Corten steel arrives as a plain, silver-grey metal, but when exposed to the elements, it begins to oxidise and form a rust-coloured patina. This transformation typically takes 6 to 9 months, depending on weather conditions. The final appearance is a rich, reddish-brown finish that gives your garden an attractive, natural look. Corten steel comes from ‘cor’ –rosion resistance and ‘ten’ -sile strength inherent in steel. Corten steel is a high-strength, weathering steel alloy designed to resist atmospheric corrosion. It develops a stable, self-protecting rust layer on the surface that acts as a barrier to prevent further corrosion to the steel underneath. That rust does not damage the product in any way, but instead protects it from the elements. This makes it a durable, low-maintenance alternative to traditional mild steel. The coating on the steel ages over time and exposure to the elements. It takes around a year to fully develop and will produce runoff when you first install it. Please note this runoff can stain, so be mindful of where you install the Corten steel edging. Corten Steel weathering – how it works:
- Please Note: Corten products can arrive at any stage of weathering. We cannot guarantee what level they will be or even if multiple items ordered at the same time will all be at the same level. Unweathered areas of your stairs will be the colour of freshly manufactured steel, with a dark oily coating.
- As your Corten Steel stairs begin to weather, the oily residue will break down.
- Your stairs will begin to change gradually to uniform orange-brown. Please be aware that ‘run-off’ may stain stone or concrete surfaces and bear this in mind when deciding where to place your stairs.
- After 9 months, your stairs should be almost entirely rust-coloured. Please be aware that run-off may still occur for several months after the uniform rust colour has been achieved.
