Corten steel sheet (also known as weathering steel) is instantly identifiable thanks to its rich, bright orange tones. Originally developed for building coal carriages in 1930s America, it is now one of the most stylish and durable metals on the market. Corten steel plate might look like it’s rusty, but thanks to clever manipulation in its processing, the outer oxidisation actually protects the steel from further corrosion, as well as giving it its striking good looks.
The grey metal pictured shows our natural/raw Corten sheet when first purchased, whilst the orange-coloured metal shows how it typically looks like after the weathering process, which takes between 3-10 months of exposure to the elements.
If you want your Corten ready-weathered, check out our pre-weathered Corten steel.
Thicknesses: 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm.
⚠️ Important Note on 5mm & 6mm Corten Steel Sheets
For 5mm & 6mm sheets, we are unable to cut these using our onsite guillotines due to the material’s strength. Instead, they must be laser cut, which requires a 10mm border around the edges. Because of this, offcuts are not always possible. Please bear this in mind when requesting custom sizes.
When rust looks good
Corten steel sheet (also known as weathering steel) is instantly identifiable thanks to its rich, bright orange tones. Originally developed for building coal carriages in 1930s America, it is now one of the most stylish and durable metals on the market. Corten steel plate might look like it’s rusty, but thanks to clever manipulation in its processing, the outer oxidisation actually protects the steel from further corrosion, as well as making it look very good indeed. There’s no need to paint this one and it just looks better with age, no wonder designers love it. For years, Corten has been the metal of choice for containers and other shipping elements. More recently, though, it’s become the material of choice for many artists, architects and interior designers. We’re proud to supply talented artists and sculptors with Corten for their gorgeous projects, including UK-based Eddie Roberts, who works the metal into stunning creations. As well as art, Corten steel cladding is extremely popular and it is often used for buildings, giving it a tough coating against the elements and an industrial-looking edge. Recently, our weathering steel was used both inside and out for the makeover of The Western, a stylish Brighton bar. We supply our weathering steel panels in a huge variety of thicknesses and sizes and our free cutting service means we can trim it down to the precise size you need, with no minimum order. Just email us for your Corten Steel prices. Whether you’re looking for stunning aesthetics, weather performance or a wonderful mix of both, it delivers.
How it’s made:
Weathering steel is an alloy, which is what makes it so resistant to the elements. The addition of nickel, copper and chromium at the production stage means that over time, a protective patina will develop on the surface of the metal.
Good for:
Cladding, containers, marine transportation, bridges, general architecture, interiors, art installations, water features, sculptures, planters and many more.
Benefits:
- Hard-wearing
- Low maintenance
- Weatherproof
- Striking looks

What is Aluminium Sheet?
The Lightweight One
Ultra-ductile, rust resistant and super-light, our sheet aluminium is suitable for a multitude of uses. This nonmagnetic, widely recycled metal is perhaps most well-known for its role in drinks cans and other packaging. Thanks to its lightweight properties, though, it also aces aircraft engineering, luggage components, bicycles and auto parts. What’s more, aluminium is incredibly resistant to corrosion, making it a clever choice for windows, roofing and other construction jobs. Aluminium is easily identifiable by its bright, silvery sheen. Just like the other metals we sell, we can provide your sheet aluminium in exactly the size you need, meaning no excess product will go to waste. There’s no minimum order, too, so you can order as much or as little aluminium as you need.
Thicknesses: 0.9mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm thick sheet.
Good for:
Packaging, drinks cans, foil sheets, cookware, home appliances, signage, storage tanks, trailers, welding, car panels, spacecraft, aerospace engineering, furniture, gutters, awnings, roofing, siding, luggage, bicycle components, ships, military vehicles, armour.
How it's made:
Get ready for a quick science lesson: the process of making aluminium sheet begins with bauxite, a soil-like substance that’s mined from underground. Clay is washed off the bauxite, which then goes through a grinding machine, before being plunged into a hot bath of caustic soda and lime. The caustic soda and lime refine the bauxite, extracting aluminium oxide. The aluminium oxide is filtered and heated, and by now takes the form of white powder. Next, electricity and carbon are combined with the aluminium oxide to create aluminium; an electrical current is passed between a negative carbon cathode and a positive carbon anode. The anode and the oxygen in the aluminium oxide react, producing carbon dioxide. This process creates liquid aluminium, which is moulded into ingots ready to be rolled out into aluminium sheets at the factory.
Benefits:
- Low density
- Versatile
- Corrosion-resistant
- Recyclable

Zintec Steel Sheet
Tough against corrosion
What do you get when you cross mild steel with zinc? A durable, versatile metal that fares brilliantly in storage and transit. This is Zintec steel sheet and it’s one of the most popular metals for use in car bodies, electronics, white goods and a whole lot more. It’s just the job if you don’t quite need the weather-proof properties of galvanised steel, but you do need a steel sheet metal that won’t rust easily. Thanks to a clever electromagnetic process, the steel is covered in a thin layer of zinc, which makes it extra strong. It’s also smooth, making it an excellent base for enamelling and powder-coating.
Thicknesses: 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 0.9mm, 1mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm thick sheet.
Zintec steel (sometimes known as zinc steel) is easy to recognise thanks to its distinctive matt, bluish-hued finish. Unlike galvanised steel sheet, this metal doesn’t tend to be used for outdoor projects, but it is still incredibly tough when it comes to avoiding corrosion. Far less likely to oxidise (and subsequently rust) in transit and while it’s waiting to be used, Zintec is a great option when you know your metal will spend time being stored or transported. Just like our other metal products, our Zintec Steel Sheet comes in an array of sizes and thicknesses. Even better, our free cutting service means you get to tell us exactly how much you need, with no minimum order.
How it’s made: Cold reduced (or cold-rolled) steel is electrolytically cleaned and pickled to make sure the surface is free of any residue or oxidisation. It is then electromagnetically plated with the thin layer of Zintec, which gives it its name and its resistance to corrosion.
Good for: Car body parts, white goods, cabinets and other furniture, electronics, doors, air conditioning units, automotive parts, enamelling and powder coating.
Benefits:
- Versatile
- Strong
- Travels well
- Won’t corrode in storage
