Although it may look like rust, this oxidised layer is a natural protective coating that prevents further corrosion and gives the pond a striking, industrial aesthetic that evolves beautifully over time.How will my Corten steel pond weather?
Your Corten steel pond will typically arrive in a raw, blue-grey state and will gradually change to a textured burnt-orange hue as it weathers with exposure to the elements. The speed of this process depends on the climate, but most items are fully weathered within 9 months. Here’s what to expect:- In most cases, your Corten steel pond will arrive un-rusted. It may have a slight patina or dark oily residue, which is completely normal.
- As weathering begins, the residue breaks down and the rusty colour will gradually start to appear. During this time, any run-off may stain stone or concrete surfaces, so choose your pond’s position with care.
- After weathering (around 6-9 months), your metal pond should be almost entirely rust-coloured. Run-off may still occur but it will be minimal.
Can Corten steel be used as a pond?

Important Information
Each water table has 2 connections as standard, with 25mm inner tread.
Pump has a 2 pin plug, but is supplied with a UK adaptor. We recommend taking professional advice from an electrician prior to installation.
To prevent limescale, the pH of the water in this water feature should be 7 (neutral); products to ensure this can be bought from a garden centre.
To avoid stains or irregular rust on the water table, it must be unpacked immediately after delivery so that any moisture between the packaging and the product is not sealed.
During the weathering stage (6-9 months) 'run-off' may stain stone or concrete surfaces. Please bear this in mind when choosing where to position your water feature.

- We suggest using a neutralising water supplement if your water does not have a neutral PH level. This is to make sure the weathering process is not affected and to stop residue from appearing. We suggest checking the PH Levels of your water often, to make sure the look of the bowl and weathering process are both unaffected.
- It is not recommended to put fish or live animals in the bowl, as the steel reacts with the water and turns it slightly acidic over time.
- Please Note: Does not come with a stand, however there is an attached ‘foot’, which is a ring of steel welded to the underside of the bowl
